3 Ways to Unpack Your Faith…
Does anyone else live out of their suitcase long after they get home from a trip?
I went away for a couple of days 2 weeks ago, and still haven’t unpacked! Not proud of that, I might add.
Of course, seeing my jumble of a mess this morning, it got me thinking…
Is that how I live out my faith?
Sitting in a corner, zipped up, packed away and forgotten?
Living out our Christian faith can sometimes feel optional. We don’t like to admit that, but it’s easy to turn it off and on depending on the circumstance.
Recently, I was in a situation where I was meeting a lot of new people in a short amount of time. I knew it was a great opportunity to live out what I believe and be a light to others. It would have been so easy to keep silent and keep to myself. But, I simply determined to connect with every person God brought my way. I connected with Terri, who was funny and had an adorable hairstyle, with Bob who gave me tips on buying a hot tub, and with Helen who had the same name as my Grandma.
None of these interactions were all that profound, but they were ordained. I knew in my heart that each of these were people loved by God and needing a bit of kindness in their lives. It may not have been much, but I truly felt like I was living out my faith in Christ by being Christ-like.
Unpacking our faith can be as simple as unzipping it. Letting it fall open right where we are.
So, how can we stop toting our faith behind us, dragging it over the bumps in the road without ever letting it spill out?
Here are 3 Ways to Unpack Your Faith and make a real difference. I pray they help as you live out your amazing testimony in light of what Jesus has done in your life!
Always stand on Truth but don’t force it
God’s Word is true no matter what. Our words or actions don’t make it truer. We can rest in knowing we stand on the only absolute that exists and we can lovingly and boldly share the Gospel without any pressure to convert anyone. Letting the Holy Spirit do His work will enable us to unpack our faith and live it out without forcing it.
Always be ready
Having our feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the Gospel of Peace is like having our hiking shoes on. We need them to climb and walk without slipping. Let the Word of God be so ingrained in your heart and mind that you will be prepared to share it anytime with anyone. Remember, we don’t have to have it all memorized, just internalized. When we hide the Word in our hearts, it will be waiting there when we need to unpack it.
Never be ashamed
People may not agree with us. People may even hate us for what we believe. But we need not fear or be ashamed. The Word of God will go forth and achieve exactly what God purposes it to achieve. Remember: I am not ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes, first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. (Romans 1:16)
How will you unpack that faith of yours today? Will you ask God to help you unlock the potential to reach others for His glory?
