Is Right Where You Are Right Where You Need to Be?

sea-turtle-688255_640So many of us don’t like the place we are in. We have the nagging feeling there is something better right around the corner. We find it difficult to be content in the moment.

Like a sea turtle trying to get to the water, but finding himself stuck in the sand, we trudge along, hoping for a wave to come and pull us out of the rut we’re in.

But what if ‘right where we are’ is right where we need to be?

What if that time in the sand is refining us for the ocean? The abrasiveness not so much painful as it is conditioning. The dry, parched place teaching us how to thirst…

Maybe, when we are Stuck in the Sand, we just need to keep putting one foot in front of the other, knowing God has a plan. (Listen here:)

Why am I stuck in the sand when I want to go on?

My heart says you’ve got to keep moving, but my feet just don’t know what they’re doing.

Are you stuck? Wishing for something better?

Right here, right now, the sun is shining overhead. Whether we see it or not, it’s shining. And there is hope. There is a way.

The ocean is before you. The water is near. And with each step, with each measure, you are getting closer to the place your heart desires.

Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear.

But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”

So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”

And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.

Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God.” (Matthew 14:25-33)

Be of good cheer. Jesus is calling you. Come to Me, the Living Water, and thirst no more. Love is here…

I’m not always happy in the place I’m in. I often think there is something more I could be doing; something different. But I’m learning to rest where I am. Not grow lazy, but rest in the One Who leads me.

I want my prayer to be, “Lord, please bless the steps You have ordered.” NOT “Bless the steps I have ordered for myself.”

Right where you are might be right where you need to be. Be encouraged today. And send me an email if you just need to chat.

I have often found that the most amazing things happen while I’m resting in him. He truly knows the steps I should take, he knows my heart and what I desire because he put it there. I love how God loves us.
And… I was just listening to that song yesterday in the car 🙂 How funny!
