Why Are We Here?

why are we here blog image

But why?

To think that one blog post can attempt to answer this ancient question is silly, right?

People have spent their whole lives trying to find the “key” to the meaning of life. Because deep inside of us is a longing for more. Surely, there is more to life than this.

Are you searching? Did you once have it figured out only to be disillusioned?

Why are we here?

I’m going to ask that you read the rest of this post without assuming that my “Christian Girl’s” point-of-view is all you’re going to get. Because it’s not.

In fact, if I were to give you MY point-of-view, I would probably say that we are here to enjoy a comfortable life without any problems.

But then what?

Is it just…over?

Even the wealthiest, most successful people on earth have come to realize that there must be more. Cause’ if we are completely honest, life’s pleasures don’t last. Don’t fulfill. Don’t cut it.

Why are we here?

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” (Genesis 1:26-28 NKJV)

For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. (Romans 1:20-21 NKJV)

For there is no difference;for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. (Romans 3:23-26 NKJV)

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. (Romans 5:1-2 NKJV)

You are right.

I cannot possibly answer the biggest question of all humanity in this one post.

But I know the One who can.

I encourage you…no, challenge you…to begin with those verses above and dig deeper into the Bible for answers. Don’t take my word for it. Don’t assume I am partial or biased or one of those “crazy Christians.”

I’m just a person who also asks herself…”Why are we here?”

Will you take the challenge? Will you dust off that Bible your Grandma gave you or download the free Bible app and just read?

As I type this, I am sipping a cup of really good coffee, with my favorite cream, in my favorite mug. I can see the Rocky Mountains from my window and feel the cool breeze on this Colorado morning. And I want everything to be right in the world. I want this moment to last.

But it won’t.

And if I am unsure about why I’m here or what my purpose is, it’s going to be very difficult to keep going when the going gets tough.

“…for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.” (2 Timothy 1:12)

Do you know why we are here?

Be encouraged today. You are not alone in your thinking. Your questions are understandable.

And, as always, I’m only an email away,
